Growing up in small town Ontario I was always interested in the nature that surrounded me. I developed an interest in painting and drawing at an early age, and this passion led me to obtain a Fine arts degree from Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick.
In 1986, my husband Bill and I moved to a fourth generation family homestead in Prince Edward County. I soon established “Tantramar Studio” a studio/gallery. This Victorian setting would showcase my paintings, and provide a space to run a small framing business. The addition of our two daughters would soon bring added inspiration.
I paint in tradition, representational style. My paintings are detailed and colorful, whether I am using the light infused qualities of watercolor on paper, or the vibrancy of acrylic on canvas. My inspiration and subject matter is often taken from the rural “County” landscape, my garden, or the waterscapes that surround me. I am especially passionate about the fall season, and the rich and vivid colour that it provides. I try to approach each piece in an honest and direct way, hoping to draw, or invite the viewer into this quiet world of light and colour.
Over the past 20 years I have shown my work in various Galleries as well as juried outdoor shows across Ontario.
